The hired crew (GAME_DESIGN §12, R33 "Hire a crew"): a player who signs a crew contract (@foi/sim's escape.ts: an item bought at a bar's counter, used, a hire event) gets a hand at their side, an NPC the server runs with the seat bots' feet and wheels (seat-bot.ts), of one of three kinds:
- the getaway driver takes the wheel: with its employer on foot it gets in the car nearest them and waits at the wheel; once they sit beside it as its passenger, it drives away from the police (the cruisers near, on the road graph:
steer-vehicle.ts), on and on while it is chased, the employer free to shoot from the window; - the gunner rides with its employer (as their passenger, or on foot beside them) and shoots the police after them it sees, out of the window too (the pistol,
arms.ts); - the hacker rides along too, and every HIRE
.hackSecondsstalls the nearest police car after its employer (HireHooks.hack: the engine dies, as an EMP's does; the Smart City's hacks take the hook over).
A hire leaves when its employer is busted (the police's arrests) or leaves the room, and when it is killed. Its state rides on its NPC's (NpcState.hire), hashed with the rest.
