Five On It — developer documentation

A top-down open-city driving game: GTA2's camera and pace, a real 3D city of low-poly cars and people, rooms of up to 32 players on an authoritative server, and games (a city and its missions) that anyone describes to Claude through the game's MCP server. It is a proof of concept: the driving feel comes first, and the rest is built around it.

Start here

  1. Getting started — install, run the server and the client, Codespaces, a released build.
  2. Controls — every key, the HUD, the legend and the minimap.
  3. What the game has — the tour: the city, the levels made from a spec, driving, fighting, the police, the city's life, missions, playing together.
  4. Architecture — workspaces, the data flow from a key press to a pixel, the design decisions.
  5. Driving model — how the car works and which numbers to turn.
  6. Netcode — prediction, reconciliation, interpolation, and how to judge them.
  7. Levels — the Babylon.js Editor project, the blocks, the export and the play loop.
  8. Creating games — making a game with Claude Code and the MCP server.
  9. Testing, Testing by hand and Quality gates — what npm run validate checks, and what to try in the running game.
  10. Roadmap — what the proof of concept covers and what comes next.
