The robbers' tech (the ten-star build's D phase, GAME_DESIGN §12; R23, R25–R30, R37, R38): gadgets used with the use key (each a gadget event of @foi/sim's, answered here) and the phone's apps (a tech command from the client, techCommand). Each costs cash (the gadget, the app, a fee) and each has its limits: a battery, a cool-down, a single use. Hacking is choices and timers, never code: everything here is a button and a clock.

  • The signal jammer (R23, a gadget, switched on and off with the use key or from the phone): within TECH.jammer.radius of its carrier, the police's drones lose their link and drift off (the swarm's, police-tech-division.ts), robots freeze, a sighting of the carrier reaches no other unit (police.ts' radio), a crime there is half the Heat (its reports come through slowly), a witness's call never gets out and the citizen app fails (police-citizens.ts). Its battery lasts a minute and charges again while it is off. A jammer running TECH.jammer.noticeSeconds is noticed: the radio sends a unit to look into the interference there. An EMP's pulse fries it for half a minute.
  • The traffic hack (R25, the Backdoor™ suite's): "Red behind me" turns the signalled junction behind the player's car red for every approach, the police's cars too (they wait at it, chaser.ts' halt), for TECH.traffic.holdSeconds; "Green wave" turns the next three junctions on their way green for them. It uses the signals' override layer, as the police's own green wave does, and goes to every client with the junctions switched by hand.
  • The camera loop (R26): every security and traffic camera within TECH.loop.reach plays old footage for TECH.loop.seconds: none of them is a sighting (police-cameras.ts).
  • The cruiser hack (R27): aimed at a police car within TECH.cruiser.reach, the phone's Hack held for two seconds stalls its engine for six and opens its doors (its crew gets out). One at a time.
  • The fake tip (R28, a burner phone, used once a chase): half the units after the player go to a place TECH.tip.distance metres off for half a minute, the radio saying the suspect was reported there; their sightings there are of nobody.
  • LawyerUp™ (R30, on every phone): while no officer sees them, a player pays $500 a star to drop one; from eight stars no lawyer takes the case.
  • The scout drone (R37, a gadget): a flyer of the player's hovering over them for a minute that marks the police within TECH.scout.reach on their minimap (police-tells.ts) and drops one smoke charge on the phone's word; the police shoot it down once they have watched it a few seconds.
  • The disguise and fake plates (R29, R38; police-heat.ts): a change of clothes nobody sees put on, plates screwed onto the car at the wheel.

Deterministic: the book's lists in the order they were made, the players by client id.
