Roofs that fade: a structure held up over the ground (a tunnel's roof, a bridge's deck, a car park's deck) is drawn see-through while the player is under it, so a car in a tunnel or under a bridge stays in sight from the camera above (the design document's "roofs fade when the player is underneath"). Only the drawing changes; the structure collides as ever. The level's builder gives such pieces a mesh of their own instead of an instance, so each fades alone. A walk-in building's storeys are such pieces too, and fade with their building when it hides the car (occluders.ts): this is the one writer of their visibility, the smaller of its own fade and the building's.
