The most a blend adds to the entity's drawn speed, as a share of that speed: a third again, under what the eye reads as a sudden acceleration (and under the netcode probe's burst threshold of half again). A guess of more than BLEND_TICKS ticks' worth of motion (the entity held through a stall of the link) is drawn away over as many ticks as that share needs.
