A piece's core: the box round its lowest metre, turned with the piece, its footprint on the ground a quadrilateral in the world. Boxes round whole pieces meet everywhere in a city (a tree's crown over a bench, a lamp's arm over a bin, a crane's boom over a yard: 2,214 false pairs on main-riverbend); their cores meet only where the pieces stand in each other. Also the plane geometry the rules share: the area two convex polygons share, and a grid to find the pieces near one another.
